Area schools compete at Checotah Crossroads Cross Country Meet
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

Athletes from Okmulgee County schools had a great showing at the Checotah Crossroads Cross Country Meet. Beggs, Henryetta, Dewar and Okmulgee competed among a crowded field of runners from across eastern Oklahoma.

— Junior High Highlights

In the Junior High Girls 1-Mile Race, runners from Beggs and Henryetta Middle Schools represented the county well. Henryetta’s Keegan Hardgrave (7:30) turned in a top-20 finish early, leading the way for the Knights, followed closely by Dixie Hedrick (8:30) and Sophie Proctor (9:07). For Beggs, Alyse Harvey clocked 8:12, with Paisley Hilton (8:56), Braylee Ware (9:29) and Jentry Hilton (10:07) rounding out solid times for the Lady Demons.

In the Junior High Boys division, Henryetta and Okmulgee Middle Schools both had standout competitors. Henryetta’s Easton Sneed (6:48) led the Knights’ charge, followed closely by teammates Grayson Gillispie (6:57), Bentley Webster (7:34), Waylon Shrum (7:34), Isiah Easter (8:32), Kozy Harjo (8:38) and Miles Henry (9:04), securing a sixth-place team finish.

Okmulgee’s young Bulldogs also made their presence known with Charles Proctor (7:53) pacing the team. Teammates Keaton McCullah (8:29), Bentley Lally (9:07), Oden King (10:34), Kase Perez (10:36) and Ilver Aguilar Orozco (12:57) combined to place Okmulgee 14th overall among 14 scoring teams.

— High School Girls 2-Mile Race

In the varsity girls’ competition, Dewar High School’s Lady Dragons placed 12th in the team standings, led by junior Adena Fowler, who ran an impressive 15:01, earning 24th place overall. Teammates Paidan Farrow (16:53), Elainna Delacal (18:54), Adelynn Delso (18:54), Jessica Lee (22:46) and Anistyn Howard (22:54) rounded out the effort, giving Dewar a consistent showing across the field.

— High School Boys 5K

In the varsity boys 5K race, Dewar standout Parks Coble turned in one of the strongest county performances of the day, finishing 7th overall with a time of 19:03, continuing his strong fall campaign. Teammates Remy Martin (20:18) and Vinton Goff (23:58) followed, with each posting competitive times among the 5K field.

Henryetta, Beggs, and Okmulgee did not field full high school teams in this event but were represented by junior high and underclass runners earlier in the day.
