No. 4-ranked Lady Pirates charge into tournament with title dreams in sight
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

The Preston Lady Pirates are heading back to the big stage – and this time, they’re storming into the 2025 OSSAA Class 2A Fast-Pitch State Tournament with a vengeance.

Boasting a stellar 27-7 record, the Lady Pirates enter the bracket ranked #4 in Class 2A and fresh off a dominant run through regionals. Now, they’re set to open tournament play on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. against Colbert at Yukon High School, launching a three-day journey that could culminate in a championship appearance at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on Saturday.

— Regional Rout to State

The Lady Pirates proved their postseason readiness with back-to-back shutouts over Nowata (10-0), Caney Valley (14-0) and Ketchum (10-0) in regional action, followed by a sweep of Crescent (1-0 and 6-0) in the OSSAA Regional Finals.

These victories showcased their elite pitching, lockdown defense, and offensive depth – all trademarks of Head Coach Jimmy Hurst’s aggressive but disciplined approach.

Under his leadership, the team has not only improved statistically but developed a strong sense of camaraderie and resilience two key ingredients for postseason success. Pirate Nation is encouraged to fill the stands at Yukon and, if all goes well, Oklahoma City.
