The Henryetta Lions Club gathered on Sept. 18, as the group finalized plans for upcoming community events.
— Sunshine Report & Meeting Business
The meeting, attended by Lions Bob Fowler, John Tedlock, Nita Robertson, Stacy Been, Amber Mordecai and guest Bruce Jones, began on a positive note with the “Sunshine Report.” Lion Bob Fowler received well-deserved recognition for reaching a personal weight loss goal – drawing cheerful applause from the group.
— Celebrating 100 Years of Route 66 A spirited discussion was held on the upcoming 100-year anniversary of the legendary Route 66. The Henryetta Chamber of Commerce is preparing maps to highlight how close Henryetta is to many iconic Route 66 attractions. Lion Amber Mordecai led the conversation with an engaging question: “What are your favorite Route 66 attractions?” This sparked fond memories and pride in Henryetta’s place along the historic roadway.
The club is enthusiastically supporting the Chamber’s “Ride Off Route 66 – Visit Henryetta” campaign, which encourages travelers to explore the unique charm of the city and its connection to the Mother Road.
— Supporting Local Schools: Fall Festival Donation In new business, the club voted unanimously to donate $100 to the Henryetta Elementary School Fall Festival. The motion, made by Lion Nita and seconded by Lion Amber, reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth and education in the community.
