Beggs cheer falls just short at Regionals
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES,

Energy, excitement and elite-level stunts filled the arena this weekend as top cheerleading teams from across the region competed in the highly anticipated OSSAA Competitive Cheer Regionals. Held at the Route 66 Coliseum in Stroud the event drew hundreds of athletes and fans eager to see which squads would earn a coveted spot in the State Championship.

From high-flying basket tosses to razor-sharp tumbling passes, the performances were nothing short of electric. Teams were judged on difficulty, synchronization, creativity and overall execution – and the competition was fierce.

Among the standout performances was the Lindsay Leopards, whose flawless routine and powerful pyramid earned them first place in the 3A division. Regional Runner-ups in the 3A division were the Okemah Panthers with a high-energy routine that had the crowd on its feet.

While they won’t be advancing to state this year, the Beggs Golden Demons cheerleading squad left it all on the mat at regionals, earning praise for their spirit, resilience and teamwork. The girls delivered a performance that showcased their growth and determination. The squad’s routine featured clean stunts, synchronized tumbling and a level of energy that lit up the crowd. Their passion was undeniable, and they finished just two-tenths of a point shy of the state championship qualifying score – a strong performance that shows they’re right on the brink of breaking through. Despite missing the state cut-off by the slimmest of margins, the team is walking away with heads held high. As the cheer competition season winds down, the Beggs cheerleaders will continue to support their school events and begin preparing for next year. Coach Kerri Jackson was very proud of her squad after the competition. Jackson said, “Back and better than ever! After two years away from competition cheer, these amazing girls came in strong and only lost by a mere .2 points! Their resilience and determination, especially after the challenges of the past weeks, truly make them champions in my eyes. Every performance is a step forward, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow! We Are Beggs!”

With Regionals now behind them, Beggs cheerleaders look forward to a week of homecoming celebrations. Fans can catch the team in action again this Friday night on the sidelines of the homecoming football game, where they’ll be energizing the crowd and showing off their school spirit with the same passion they brought to the competition floor.
