The Morris Eagles fell to the Haskell Haymakers 40-0 in a tough road matchup Friday night, as the Haymakers kept the Eagles out of the end zone and extended their dominance in the budding rivalry between the two schools. The loss drops Morris to 0-3 on the season, while Haskell improves to 2-2.
Despite the final score, the Eagles showed grit and flashes of promise from several young players, and now turn their attention to Friday night’s upcoming home showdown against county rival Henryetta for the next chapter in the Walker Cup series.
— Haymakers control all four quarters Haskell wasted little time in establishing their ground dominance, racking up 288 total rushing yards as a team and scoring in every quarter. The Haymakers built a 20-0 halftime lead and added 20 more unanswered points in the second half.
Morris, meanwhile, managed 163 total yards of offense but struggled to sustain drives. The Eagles converted only 3 of 11 third downs and went 0-for-2 on fourth-down attempts. Two turnovers – one fumble and one interception – also hindered Morris’ momentum.
The Haymakers executed a balanced offensive attack, with 54 total plays and 17 first downs compared to the Eagles’ 52 plays and 10 first downs.

Quarterback Landon Martin (#6) led the Morris offense with 85 passing yards, completing 8 of 20 passes with a long gain of 21 yards. Though he threw one interception, Martin showed poise under pressure and continued developing chemistry with his receivers.
Harrison Hodges (#3) was Martin’s top target, hauling in 3 receptions for 34 yards, including the team’s longest reception of the night. Hodges also rushed once for 14 yards and made his presence felt in special teams with 5 kickoff returns for 50 yards and a punt return for 4 yards.
On the ground, Cayden Bumgarner (#2) led the rushing attack with 16 carries for 46 yards, while adding 3 receptions for 14 yards. Bumgarner also handled punting duties, averaging 30 yards on 3 punts, and added a kickoff for 35 yards.
Other contributors on offense included T. Whitaker (#8) with 1 reception for 11 yards, and E. Edwards (#9) who caught a 6-yard pass. Whitaker also returned one kickoff.
