The Beggs Lady Demons went toe-to-toe with a powerful Kellyville squad on Thursday, battling through defensive pressure and tough-at-bats before ultimately falling to the Ponies. Beggs showed flashes of grit and defensive steadiness, but a big second inning from Kellyville proved too much to overcome in an 11-1 loss on the road.
Beggs started the game with confidence, as Kaylynn Hamilton took the circle and worked to keep the Kellyville bats in check early. Though Kellyville found a rhythm in the second inning to build a quick lead, Hamilton kept fighting, striking out a batter and working through tough counts against a patient lineup.
At the plate, the Lady Demons found their spark in the middle of the order. Willow Herod led the way offensively, going a perfect 2-for-2 and proving to be a tough out for Kellyville’s defense. Herod also shined in the field, recording a team-high three chances without a single misstep as Beggs played defense throughout the night.
The Lady Demons’ defense held strong despite the pressure, keeping the game within reach after the early surge. Their ability to stay clean in the field showed discipline and resilience against a Kellyville squad that thrived on walks and timely hits.
Though the scoreboard tilted in Kellyville’s favor, Beggs left the field with positives to build on – highlighted by Herod’s hot bat, a flawless defensive showing and moments of determination in the circle from Hamilton.
The Lady Demons now turn their attention to a double matchup against Catoosa and Will Rogers on Thursday in Catoosa, where they’ll look to bring their defensive focus and offensive sparks together for a bounceback performance.
