The Beggs Junior High softball team showed grit and determination Saturday, coming up just short in a 4-2 contest against the Howe Lady Lions.
Beggs kept the pressure on throughout the game, putting together timely hits and refusing to go quietly. After falling behind early, the Lady Demons rallied with runs in the third and fourth innings to close the gap. Paisley Kelley and Olivia Chreene each delivered RBI’s to spark the offense, while Anabella Cruz also contributed with a solid base hit.
In the circle, Madi Jones battled through three innings for Beggs, limiting Howe to just three hits while working around tough situations. Her effort kept the Lady Demons within striking distance.
The highlight came in the later innings when Beggs’ bats began to click. Kelley drove in a key run to get Beggs on the board, and Chreene followed with an RBI to keep the momentum alive. The Lady Demons’ offense showed signs of breaking through, forcing Howe’s pitcher to work hard.
While Howe managed to push across single runs in the first three innings, Beggs never backed down. The Lady Demons finished with two runs on two hits and showed steady improvement at the plate and in the field.
With strong contributions across the lineup and flashes of offense, the Beggs Lady Demons proved they can hang with tough opponents – a promising sign as they continue their season.
