The Beggs Lady Demons secured a convincing 13-3 victory over the Wetumka Lady Chieftains on Tuesday, powered by an outstanding offensive performance from Abby Yandell. Yandell drove in four runs on two hits, leading the charge for the Demons. She reached base with a walk in the first inning, doubled in the second bringing home two runners, and tripled in the fourth to add another RBI.
Beggs showcased patience at the plate, finishing the game without a single strikeout and drawing eight walks against Wetumka’s pitcher, Louisa Hobbs.
The Lady Demons jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Destiny Chisum singled up the middle, followed by Ruby Tenison’s double to center field. Yandell and Taytum Mills both drew walks, while Kayleigh Thompson singled to the left side of the infield and Abigail Harmon singled to center field, each contributing to the run tally.
Beggs extended their lead in the second inning, scoring five runs on three hits to bring the score to 11-0. Willow Herod singled to score a run, Yandell doubled in two runs, and Thompson added another two-run double.
Wetumka’s Taytum Cornelius attempted to spark a comeback with an inside-the-park home run in the third inning. However, the Lady Demons responded decisively and secured a run-rule victory in the fourth inning, ending the game at 13-3.
On the mound, Kaylynn Hamilton delivered a strong performance for Beggs, pitching four innings while allowing four hits and three runs. She struck out five batters and walked three. Wetumka’s Hobia struggled, giving up 12 hits and 12 runs over three innings, with no strikeouts and eight walks.
