Lady Pirates battle through tough stretch

Lady Pirates fall despite out-hitting Glenpool The Preston Lady Pirates fell to the Glenpool Lady Warriors 5-3 Friday, despite out-hitting them seven to five. Ashleigh Hurt and Taylan Starr each collected two hits for Preston.

Glenpool got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run, and added to their early lead in the top of the second inning, after the Lady Pirates committed an error. Kami Culley doubled down the right field line and Sophie Leeper singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring one run.

Josie Cope stepped in the circle first for Preston. The starter allowed five hits and five runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out none and walking two. Kaylee Kendrick started in the circle for Glenpool. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking one.

Kynlee Martin led the team with one run batted in. Ashleigh Hurt and Taylan Starr each stole multiple bases for Preston, who stole seven bases in the game.

Sophie Leeper went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Warriors in hits.

— Preston defeated by Edmond Santa Fe Kynlee Martin collected three hits in three at bats, but the Preston Lady Pirates lost to the Edmond Santa Fe Lady Wolves 6-3 on Saturday at Bixby. Kynlee Martin tripled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Edmond Santa Fe jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Bella Lanyi singled, scoring one run, Hannah Forga-V grounded out, scoring one run, Harper Guthrie singled, scoring one run and an error scored two runs.

The Lady Wolves added one run in the third after Preston committed an error.

Josie Cope led things off in the circle for the Lady Pirates. The pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Hannah Forga- V stepped in the circle first for Edmond Santa Fe. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out none and walking none.

Preston turned one double play in the game. Harper Guthrie went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Edmond Santa Fe in hits.

Preston traveled to Bartlesville for their next game on Saturday.

— Lady Pirates rebound against Bartlesville The Preston Lady Pirates topped the Bartlesville Lady Bruins 9-4 on Saturday.

Bartlesville got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after a double to center field, and a single down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Preston captured the lead, 4-2, in the top of the fourth when Kynlee Martin singled, scoring one run, Josie Cope doubled, scoring two runs and Josie Cope scored after tagging up.

Taylan Starr stepped in the circle first for the Lady Pirates. The starter gave up eight hits and four runs (three earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking none.

Josie Cope and Kynlee Martin were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Preston. Kynlee Martin, Sophia Bunner and Taylan Starr each collected two hits for the Lady Pirates.

The Lady Pirates played at home on Monday against the Tonkawa Lady Bucs.
