The 2025 Okmulgee County Free Fair is lighting up the Fairgrounds this week with a full schedule of livestock shows, creative exhibits, youth contests and family-friendly fun. This annual celebration has become a cornerstone event for local 4-H and FFA members, agricultural producers, and families eager to see the incredible talent and hard this year.
But the fun doesn’t stop at the booths. OHCE members are also treating visitors to the Exhibit Hall Cookie Shop, featuring homemade cookies, brownies and bars baked by local clubs. The Cookie Shop opens daily at 10 a.m., with goodies available to enjoy on the spot or take home – all proceeds benefiting local projects.
— What’s Happening This Week Friday, Sept. 5 – Cattle & Culinary Day The day kicks off with a focus on livestock and culinary skills:
• 9 a.m. – Heifer Check-In
• 11 a.m. – Heifer Show, followed by Cow-Calf Pairs – Steer Show begins 30 minutes after Cow-Calf Pairs – Showmanship competition runs between Heifer and Steer Shows – All performance steers must compete in the Prospect Show
• 4 p.m. – 4-H Salad- Making Contest
• 4:30 p.m. – 4-H Food Judging Contest concludes • 5 p.m. – 4-H Table Setting Contest — Saturday, Sept. 6 Family Fun Festival Saturday is perfect for families looking for hands-on fun and entertainment: • 8 a.m. – Hog, Goat & Sheep Check-In
• 8:30 a.m. – Dog Parade Lineup
• 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Family Fun Festival – Free activities, Ugliest Vegetable Contest, and the Dog Parade
• 10 a.m. – Hog, Goat & Sheep Shows – Bucket Calf Contest immediately following Hog Show
• 5 p.m. – Horse Show Entries Due — More Than Just a Fair From poultry and rabbits to goats, sheep and cattle, the fair offers a front-row seat to the dedication, skill and spirit of Okmulgee County’s youth and agricultural families. Local 4-H and FFA members compete in contests that build leadership, responsibility and teamwork, while culinary and table-setting competitions highlight creativity and practical skills.
Families are encouraged to make Saturday morning a must-see outing to enjoy handson activities, contests and exhibits for all ages. It’s a chance to support local youth, explore the county’s agricultural talent and share in the fun and tradition of the Okmulgee County Free Fair.
