The Morris Lady Eagles softball team faced a tough outing against the Lexington Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 9-2 despite a solid performance from their pitcher.
Lexington scored four runs in the first inning, including a two-run homer and an RBI single, quickly establishing control. Three more runs in the second inning gave the Lady Bulldogs a commanding 7-0 lead.
Morris battled throughout the game, with Brooke Thomas striking out six batters over seven innings and walking just two. She also contributed offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Alayna Fixico added two stolen bases, demonstrating the Lady Eagles’ speed and effort on the base paths.
The Lady Eagles managed to score their two runs in the fourth and sixth innings, with multiple players contributing hits. Defensively, Morris committed one error during the contest. Lexington finished the game with 12 hits, led by MacKenzie Manuel, who drove in three runs.
While the loss was tough, the Eagles’ pitching and base running displayed the team’s competitiveness. The team will look to rebound in upcoming games and continue developing their depth and hitting consistency.
