A Henryetta resident has pled guilty in federal court to distributing methamphetamine, a charge that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that 31-year-old Matthew Wayne Wasson of Henryetta entered a guilty plea to one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine. Under federal law, the offense is punishable by no less than 10 years and up to life in prison, along with a potential fine of up to $10 million.
According to the indictment, Wasson knowingly and intentionally distributed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine – a Schedule II controlled substance – on October 3, 2024. The case stems from an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson, who ordered a pre-sentence investigation report to be completed. Wasson will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service while awaiting his sentencing. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the final sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker.
