HPS gears up for new school year

As summer winds down, excitement is building across Henryetta as students, families and staff prepare for the 2025-26 school year. Henryetta Public Schools has released its official “Welcome Back” schedule, which includes class announcements, enrollment opportunities, orientations and a comprehensive Open House to help ease the transition back to school.

The first of the backto- school events begins Monday, Aug. 4, with Elementary Class Announcements and Enrollment taking place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents and guardians eager to learn which teacher their child has been assigned for the year may call the ele- mentary office directly at 918-652-6587. During this same time, Pre-K through 5th Grade enrollment will be conducted at the Kindergarten building.

One of the most anticipated dates on the calendar is the Open House set for Monday, Aug. 11, from 4-7 p.m., which includes a series of orientation meetings and a supply distribution event to welcome students and their families. The schedule is designed to inform parents and students about expectations, classroom procedures and campus policies while providing opportunities to meet school staff.

— Aug. 11 Open House Highlights

• 5 p.m. – 6th Grade Orientation – Taking place in the High School/Middle School Cafeteria, this session is aimed at helping incoming middle school students adjust to their new academic environment.

• 5:30 p.m. – High School Online Students Meeting – A special session for HS students and parents enrolled in online coursework will be held in the High School Library, offering guidance on digital platforms and expectations.

• 6 p.m. – 9th Grade Orientation & Parent Handbook Meeting – Held in the High School Auditorium, this orientation will provide freshmen and their parents with valuable insight into academic policies, graduation requirements and extracurricular opportunities.

• 6:30 p.m. – 10th-12th Grade Parent Handbook Meeting – Also in the High School Auditorium, this session is tailored for upperclassmen and their families to stay informed on any policy updates or changes for the new year.

• 4-7 p.m. – JOM Supplies Distribution – Students who are eligible for Johnson O’Malley (JOM) services can pick up school supplies at the High School Gym. New students qualifying for the program are also welcome to receive supplies during this time.

– Finally, the First Day of School for all Henryetta students will be Wednesday, Aug. 13, with classes running from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. School buses will run regular routes, and all campuses are expected to be fully operational, welcoming students back into classrooms for another year of learning and growth.

Superintendent, principals, and educators across Henryetta Public Schools encourage families to take full advantage of these events to ensure a smooth and successful start to the new school year.

For further details, community members can visit the school’s official website or contact the administrative office directly.
