Trio arrested in connection with Okmulgee homicide
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

An investigation into a deadly shooting in Okmulgee has led to the arrests of three individuals, following a coordinated effort by numerous law enforcement agencies.

The case stems from a fatal shooting that occurred just after midnight on July 12 near the intersection of Martin Luther King Street and N. Wilson Avenue. Officers from the Okmulgee Police Department and the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police responded to the scene, where they discovered 25-year-old Devontae Hanson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Hanson was transported to a local hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, the Okmulgee Police Department requested the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), launching a full-scale homicide investigation.

Authorities identified 35-year-old Stevie Perry, Jr. as a suspect, and a warrant for Second-Degree Murder was issued by the Okmulgee County District Court. On July 21, Perry was arrested in Okmulgee by the Eastern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force and booked into the Okmulgee County Jail.

Two additional suspects were also identified and apprehended in separate states. A warrant for Second-Degree Murder was issued for 37-yearold Shamarcus Powdrill, who was arrested by the Oakland, Calif. Police Department on unrelated charges. He is currently being held at the Alameda County Jail in Dublin, Calif.

A third suspect, 28-year-old Kadijha Sykes, was charged as an Accessory to Second-Degree Murder. She was apprehended in McKinney, Texas by OSBI agents and officers from the McKinney Police Department. Sykes was booked into the Collin County Jail.

The OSBI emphasized that this remains an active investigation and is urging anyone with information to contact their tip line at tips@osbi. ok.gov or call 1-800-522-8017.

In a statement, the OSBI extended its gratitude for the collaborative effort among more than a dozen law enforcement partners. Agencies assisting with the case include the Okmulgee Police Department, Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, United States Marshals Service, Customs and Border Patrol, Texas Rangers, Tulsa Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, Oakland Police Department, Alameda County Sheriff ’s Office, McKinney Police Department, Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Police and the San Francisco Police Department.

Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
