The Dewar Dragons basketball program is opening its doors for a special skills development event this Friday, inviting boys and girls from surrounding areas to participate in a focused gym session centered around ball handling and shooting drills.
Held in the Dewar Public Schools gymnasium, the “Open Gym” event is divided into two sessions to accommodate different grade levels:
• 9:30-10:30 a.m. Open to boys and girls entering 4th through 6th grade
• 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Open to boys and girls entering 7th through 12th grade This event is a great opportunity for student- athletes to brush up on their basketball fundamentals ahead of the upcoming school year. Participants will be led through targeted drills to strengthen core techniques, including dribbling control, passing precision, and proper shooting form.
The Dragons’ basketball staff aims to foster skill development and a love for the game in a supportive and fun environment. Whether young athletes are just beginning their basketball journey or are seasoned players preparing for the season ahead, the open gym provides valuable court time to sharpen individual performance.
For more information, families are encouraged to contact the Dewar Athletics Department or check with school coaches about what to bring. Participants should wear gym-appropriate attire and bring their own water bottles.
Don’t miss out on this chance to train with the Dragons and boost your basketball game before the school year tips off.
