Green Country Technology Center (GCTC) is kicking of the new school year with its annual Back to School Bash, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5-7 p.m. at the GCTC campus, located at 1100 OK-56 Loop in Okmulgee. The event promises to be an exciting and informative evening for incoming students, their families and GCTC instructors and staff.
The Back to School Bash gives new and returning full-time students the chance to meet their instructors, complete important paperwork and connect with classmates before the official first day of classes. Light refreshments will be served, and guardians are encouraged to attend alongside their students.
“This event is a great opportunity for students to visit our campus and start building the relationships that will support their success throughout the year,” Roger King, GCTC Superintendent, said. “We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones into our community.”
From exploring classrooms and labs to engaging in conversations with faculty, the Back to School Bash provides an ideal setting for students to get a jump start on the year. It also gives families a closer look at the programs their students will be involved in – ranging from Healthcare and Trades to Business and Technology Careers.
The first official day of school for GCTC’s full-time programs is Thursday, Aug. 14. Students in programs such as Cosmetology, Medical Assisting, Welding, HVAC, CNC Machining, Health Careers, Programming, Construction Trades and more will dive into hands-on, industry- focused training designed to prepare them for high-demand careers.
With a continued commitment to workforce development in the region, GCTC remains focused on training students with real-world skills that meet the needs of local employers and communities.
As GCTC gears up for another year of career training excellence, the school is also seeking passionate individuals to join its instructional team.
Instructor positions are currently open in the HVAC/R and NIMS Certified CNC Machine Operator programs. These roles offer a unique opportunity to help shape the next generation of Oklahoma’s skilled workforce.
