Community leaders, supporters and partners gathered Tuesday at 4 p.m. in downtown Okmulgee to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the Well Done Foundation’s (WDF) new office. Founded in 2019 by Curtis Shuck after seeing the environmental impact of abandoned oil wells firsthand in Montana, WDF tackles the problem head-on - identifying, monitoring and permanently plugging orphaned wells to stop harmful methane emissions, one well at a time. Thanks to donor and corporate support, WDF has plugged 29 wells across the U.S., preventing over 500,000 metric tons of methane (80 times more harmful than carbon dioxide) from entering the atmosphere. The foundation continues its mission nationwide, now including Oklahoma.
