Growing up, she always dreamed of writing her own Nancy Drew books, but her family wasn’t sure of her choice. In 1975, she graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Anthropology and went on to the University of California and got her medical degree in 1979. From there, she worked as a physician in Honolulu.
She married Dr. Jacob Gerritsen, M.D., who specializes in Geriatric Medicine and they have two sons. It was while on maternity leave that she wrote her romantic thriller “Call After Midnight,” her first novel being published in 1987. Eight romantic suspense novels followed. Her first medical thriller, “Harvest,” was published in 1996.
Gerritsen has written over 30 novels, and her books have been translated into 40 languages. More than 40 million copies of her books have been sold worldwide. Not only is she a New York Times bestselling author, but she is also listed as a number one bestseller in the UK and Germany.
Tess has retired from medicine and writes fulltime. She is one of the most impressive medical and crime thriller authors of today. Her latest work, “The Summer Guests,” was published March 18. She lives in Camden, Maine.
Our local library has 17 of her books. The Henryetta Public Library will host a book signing on Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. with local author Kendra (Parks) Thompson. The public is invited to this special event.
