DHS welcomes new principal

Dewar Public Schools is proud to welcome Dirk Walden as the new High School Principal and Head Boys Basketball Coach, bringing with him nearly three decades of experience and a strong reputation for excellence in both education and athletics.

“I’m super excited to be a part of the Dewar Public School and community,” Walden said. “It’s both an honor and a privilege … I hope I can help add to the excellent standards and tradition that have been es- tablished before me.”

Walden is entering his 28th year in education, including seven years in administration and 22 years as a head basketball coach, including a stint at Preston Schools. His coaching record speaks volumes: 482 wins, two state championships, three state runner-up finishes and a legacy of competitive success built on discipline and leadership.

Beyond his professional accolades, Walden is also a dedicated father. He and his three children are already making their mark in both academics and athletics. His son Dylan is set to begin his freshman year at Connors State College, where he will play baseball. Lukas will be a sophomore at Dewar High School and is active in both baseball and basketball. Brynlee, the youngest, is entering the 5th grade and enjoys playing softball and basketball.

The Dewar community is excited about the addition of Walden, who embodies the school’s motto: Rooted in Tradition. Rising with Purpose.

His leadership and experience are expected

to build upon Dewar’s strong foundation, both in the classroom and on the court.
