The Henryetta Knights saw a strong pitching performance Thursday but came up just short in a narrow 3-2 loss to the Hugo Buffaloes.
Hunter Bowdler started for the Knights and kept the team within striking distance throughout, pitching four innings and giving up only three runs (one earned) on five hits. Bowdler struck out five and issued four walks in a gritty outing on the mound.
Hugo took an early lead on a double by D.K. Wilson in the first inning and added two more runs in the second inning after a walk and a single.
The Knights’ offense came to life in the later innings, with Boston Morris leading the charge at the plate. Morris collected two hits in four at-bats to pace Henryetta’s offense, while Bowdler and James Joslin each drove in one run.
