Beggs to host track meet today
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

The Beggs High School athletic complex will be alive with energy and community spirit this Friday, as the school proudly hosts the Coach Alexander Invitational Track Meet – a day of competition held in honor of longtime Beggs track coach and educator, Coach Alexander, whose legacy continues to shape generations of athletes.

The meet will kick off at 9:30 a.m., bringing together student-athletes from across the region to compete in a full slate of track and field events. Beggs Schools is proud of the newly renovated track facility which boasts a new state of the art running surface, all new hurdles, new mats for field events and color exchange zones.

Beggs High School officials expect a strong turnout from neighboring schools, with events scheduled to include:

• Running Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 110/100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and multiple relay races.

• Field Events: Shot put, discus, long jump, high jump and pole vault.

This invitational is especially significant for the Beggs community as it celebrates the contributions of Coach Alexander, who dedicated many years to the school’s athletic programs. Known for his leadership, mentorship and tireless work ethic, Coach Alexander left a lasting impact on countless student-athletes, instilling values of discipline, resilience and teamwork.

Concessions will be available throughout the day, and fans are encouraged to come prepared with lawn chairs, sunscreen and school colors to cheer on their favorite teams. Admission will be charged at the gate, with proceeds supporting the Beggs track and field program.

In case of inclement weather, contact Tyler Blizzard at 918-843-0427.
