Peyton Kilhoffer turned in a monster game at the plate, driving in five runs on three hits to lead the Dewar Dragons past Salina 9-2 on Friday.
Kilhoffer’s biggest blow came in the fifth inning, when he launched a three-run homer to left field, breaking a 2-2 tie. He added a two-run single in the sixth to extend Dewar’s lead.
Dewar had opened the scoring in the second thanks to a solo shot by Stoney Yaerger, but Salina bounced back with a two-run single from Landon Fain in the fourth.
The Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a sacrifice bunt by Skelly Taylor before Kilhoffer’s homer put them ahead for good.
Aidan Tomlinson was dominant on the mound, striking out 12 and allowing just two runs on four hits over seven innings. He also issued three walks.
Yaerger finished 2-for-3, while Kilhoffer led all hitters with three hits and five RBIs.
Salina’s Eli Swarer had two hits in the losing effort. Deagen Pickup took the loss in relief, giving up three runs in one inning.
