OJHS Track Meet showcases local talent

The 2025 Okmulgee Junior High Track Meet, held April 1 at Okmulgee High School, brought together talented young athletes from across the region, with strong performances from Okmulgee County competitors, including student-athletes from Okmulgee and Wilson.

Okmulgee Middle School athletes stood out in several events, collecting medals and top-five finishes throughout the day.

--- Okmulgee Results

• The 8th grade boys’ 4x100 relay team raced to a 2nd place finish with a time of 49.26, just behind Glenpool.

• Kaleb Berryhill claimed 2nd place in the 8th grade boys’ 110m hurdles (19.45) and won the 300m hurdles with a time of 49.01.

• Devin Bailey blazed through the 8th grade boys’ 100m dash, taking 1st place with a time of 11.90.

• In the field events, Shevy Fulton and Brighdon McFalls took 1st and 2nd place respectively in the 8th grade boys’ shot put, with throws of 34’8.5” and 33’9”.

• Kemri Penn captured 1st place in the 8th grade girls’ discus with a throw of 75’2” and also earned second place in shot put at 26’1”.

• The 8th grade boys’ 4x400 relay team from Okmulgee also impressed, clocking in at 4:01.16 to win the event.

--- Wilson Results

• Alexis Reynolds, competing in the 7th grade division, scored points in the 100m hurdles with a 6th place finish and clocked 16.85 in the 100m dash, placing 17th.

• Juliana Mize claimed a 3rd place finish in the 7th grade girls’ 300m hurdles with a time of 1:35.25.

• In the 800m run, Spencer Bowers and Evan Hulbutta finished 9th and 12th respectively, representing Wilson in the 7th grade boys’ division.

• Bowers also competed in the 400m dash, finishing 17th overall with a time of 1:18.59.

• In field events, Brayden Wilson participated in both the 400m and 200m dashes in the 8th grade boys’ category.

• Jaidence Wilbourn threw 13’1.5” in the 7th grade girls’ shot put, while Mariah Hernandez earned a 4th place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 47’4”.

--- Overall Results

The team standings reflected strong depth from several programs: • Glenpool and Carver dominated the team events, consistently placing athletes on the podium across all grade levels and disciplines.

• Sapulpa and Charles Page (Sand Springs) also showed strength, especially in the 9th grade divisions.

• Okmulgee finished with several top-five team placements in the relay events and multiple top-three finishes in both track and field competitions.

The meet served as an exciting showcase of rising talent and provided a competitive yet supportive atmosphere for junior high athletes preparing for their high school track careers.
