Lady Demons breeze past Morris in 14-4 victory
By JUSTUS MOSCO STAFF WRITER,

The Beggs Lady Demons showcased their offensive firepower Tuesday afternoon, cruising to a 14-4 win over the Morris Lady Eagles in a commanding slowpitch softball performance. Highlighted by consistent hitting and a second-inning surge, Beggs made quick work of their county rivals, thanks to a balanced team effort at the plate and solid defense in the field.

— Morris Starts Hot, But Beggs Responds Big Morris jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Fire Clark led off with a double to left field, setting the tone. A defensive error by Beggs allowed another run to score, and Kailyn Fixico added an RBI single down the right field line to cap off the inning.

But that lead didn’t last long. In the bottom of the second, Beggs flipped the game with a five-run explosion. The highlight came when Abby Yandell ripped an inside-thepark home run, clearing the bases for three runs and putting the Lady Demons ahead 6-3.

— Beggs Pulls Away in the Third and Fourth Beggs added two more runs in the third, taking advantage of a Morris error and an RBI single by Stella Howell to stretch the lead to 8-3. Then came a massive six-run fourth inning that put the game out of reach.

Emma Trimble got things rolling with an RBI single. Aliyah Vernon scored after tagging up on a fly ball. Destiny Chisum followed with a single to bring in two more runs, and Stella Howell capped off the inning with another two-run single.

Morris managed to bring one run home in the fourth, but Beggs’ defense held tight, and the game ended with a double-digit victory for the Lady Demons.

— Beggs Highlights

• Chloe Cooper: The number nine hitter was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, setting the table for the top of the order throughout the game. Cooper reached base in every plate appearance, fueling Beggs’ scoring from the bottom of the lineup.

• Stella Howell: Howell was a key offensive contributor, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs across two clutch hits—one in the third and another in the fourth—showing her ability to produce in pressure moments.

• Abby Yandell: The sophomore star launched an inside-the-park home run in the second inning, driving in three runs. Yandell also earned the win in the circle, pitching four innings while allowing just two earned runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.

• Emma Trimble: Collected a base hit and an RBI in the fourth, continuing her trend of timely hits in recent games.

• Aliyah Vernon: Though not credited with a hit, Vernon scored a key run in the fourth by tagging up on a sacrifice fly.

• Destiny Chisum: Went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs with a solid base hit during the fourth inning. Her timely hitting from the eight spot in the lineup helped push Beggs into double digits.

• Lexi Brigance: Had multiple hits on the day and scored on a sacrifice fly, staying aggressive on the bases and playing a solid role in the offensive outburst.

• Haylee Baughn: Contributed with multiple hits as well, helping keep rallies alive through the middle innings.

• Angel Aylor, Kayleigh Thompson, Abigail Harmon: Each chipped in with one hit apiece. Harmon also anchored the defense, recording six outs from her position.

— Morris Highlights

Despite the loss, Morris had some bright moments at the plate:

• Kailyn Fixico: Led the Lady Eagles with a 2-for-2 performance, including two RBIs in the first inning.

• Fire Clark: Opened the game with a double to left field and later scored a run. Her aggressive base running set the tone early.

• Rhylee Whitaker: Delivered a triple in the first inning, scoring one run.

— Pitching Summary

• Beggs – Abby Yandell: 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R (2 ER), 2 K, 1 BB

• Morris – Hayleigh Frazier: 3.2 IP, 15 H, 14 R (7 ER), 0 K, 3 BB
