County basketball matchups set for Friday night

Basketball fans in Okmulgee County are in for an exciting Friday evening as local high school teams hit the court for competitive matchups.

— Okmulgee @ Vian

The Okmulgee Bulldogs (4-4) are riding high on momentum after a commanding 56-39 win over the Vian Wolverines just before their Christmas break. The victory marked Okmulgee’s third consecutive win, showcasing their growing confidence and teamwork. With an even season record, the Bulldogs will look to extend their winning streak and solidify their position as contenders.

On the other hand, Vian (3-3) is reeling from back-to-back losses, including the defeat to Okmulgee. The Wolverines will aim to regroup and seek redemption in the rematch. Both teams are well-rested after some extra time off, which could lead to a thrilling clash on Friday night.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped their last matchup against Vian 55-41, but is hoping for a revenge as a they seek to get their second win of the season.

— Preston vs. Red Oak

The Preston Pirates (7-3) have been on a roll, picking up their second consecutive win in December with a decisive 51-30 victory over Kellyville. Preston’s dominant form at home continues to be a major factor, as the Pirates have now won 11 straight home games dating back to last season. Averaging 64.4 points per game during this streak, the Pirates’ offense will be a key weapon as they face off against the Red Oak Eagles.

Red Oak (9-3) comes into the game looking to rebound after a tough 68–

32 loss to Caddo two weeks ago. The Eagles have struggled against the Bruins in recent matchups, having dropped four consecutive games to them. However, they’ll hope to turn things around and challenge Preston on the Pirates’ home turf.

— Dewar vs. Maud

Both the boys and girls teams are bringing perfect 6-0 records into tonight’s matchup against Maud. Just before the break, the Lady Dragons destroyed Life Christian 73-12, while the Dragons beat Life Christian 52-48.

Dewar is at home beginning at

6:30 p.m. Next week’s action will see the Dragons take on Butner again at home on Jan. 6.
