Key players, including quarterback Peyton Kilhoffer and running back Braelin Lewis, were instrumental in the team’s success.
Coach Been was honored for achieving his 200th win as a football coach; while Preston High School baseball coach Ryan Hudson reached a milestone 400 wins as a coach. — Henryetta Knights’ Resilient Football Season The Henryetta Knights exhibited resilience throughout their football season, finishing with an 8-3 record. Despite a valiant effort, their playoff run concluded with a 26-12 loss to the Salina Wildcats. The Knights’ season was marked by strong offensive performances and a steadfast defense, earning them recognition as a competitive team in the district.
— Beggs Golden Demons’ Football Playoff Journey The Beggs Golden Demons made a significant impact in the football playoffs, delivering a commanding 43-0 shutout against the Alva Goldbugs in the first round. Their season, characterized by a potent offense and a robust defense, advanced them to face the undefeated Vian Wolverines in the subsequent round, highlighting their status as a formidable contender in Class 2A-II.

Okmulgee County’s presence was notable at the 2024 Cross Country State Championship Meet held at Edmond Santa Fe High School. Athletes from Henryetta, Beggs, Preston, and Dewar represented their schools with distinction. Henryetta’s senior runner, Kenleigh Kaler, earned selection to the Oklahoma Cross Country Track Coaches Association All-Star Team, recognizing her as one of the top senior runners in the state.

The Green Country Technology Center Green Goblins were crowned State Camps. Congratulations to Riley Barnett for dominating Tekken 8 and to the SMASH Crews dream team: Riley Barnett, Jefferson Gutierez, and Zander Mcvey. GCTC is super proud of their players for clinching State Champion titles in Tekken 8 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate Crews.
In December, Beggs Middle School won the Fortnite State Championship. Four young men, all 7thgrade students at BMS, were honored as Fortnite State Champions in the Oklahoma Scholastics eSports (OKSE) league. Easton Howell, Hunter Driver, Camden Remington and Jude Wells comprised the championship Fortnite team.
— Athletes Participate in All-State Games, Events The Morris Eagles were named 2024 Football Class 2A Division 2 Academic State Champ.
Jaylen Zackery represented Morris in the 2024 Oklahoma Native American All State East in El Reno on June 7. The East took home the win over the West team 12-7.
Okmulgee Bulldogs Jeremiah Harley and Asaiah Leybas, Dewar’s Zach Mullen, and Henryetta High School’s Shelby Kilhoffer were just a few of the county senior athletes that participated in All-State games during the past year.
