Wilson faces undefeated Weleetka tonight in semifinal showdown
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

The stage is set for a thrilling semi-final matchup in the Class B-II football playoffs as the Wilson Tigers (10-1) take on the Weleetka Outlaws (12-0) today in Drumright, at 7 p.m. Both teams enter the game with impressive records and high stakes, aiming to secure their spot in the championship. Both squads bring momentum into this matchup.

The Tigers are riding a seven-game winning streak, including a hardfought 58-50 victory over Okeene in their last outing. Meanwhile, the Outlaws are unbeaten, cruising through their season with dominant performances, including a 66-20 rout of Waukomis in their most recent playoff game. For Wilson, this game is about redemption. The Tigers fell to Weleetka earlier in the season in a lopsided 64-26 defeat. This rematch presents an opportunity for the Tigers to rewrite their story and prove their mettle against the top-ranked Outlaws.

— Scoring Averages

Weleetka’s dominance stems from their explosive starts, averaging 22.5 points in the first quarter alone. The Tigers, however, boast strong second and third quarters, keeping them competitive in high-pressure games. Both teams excel offensively, with Weleetka averaging 53.7 points per game and Wilson close behind at 49.6.

The Tigers rely on a balanced offensive attack and stout defense to keep games close behind the dynamic Shelburn brothers, Ke’Shon and Za’brien. They will need standout performances across the board to upset the Outlaws.

Weleetka Outlaws

Isaiah Drake is a dual-threat quarterback who continues to dominate, recently amassing 414 passing yards, six touchdowns and 73 rushing yards against Waukomis. Bryant Sites, Drake’s favorite target, racked up 240 receiving yards and three touchdowns in their last game.

— Game Outlook

The Outlaws have been nearly untouchable this season, boasting a perfect 12-0 record and winning games by an average margin of over 46 points. Wilson, however, is no stranger to high-stakes matchups and enters the game with a strong 10-1 record, determined to avenge their earlier loss to Weleetka.

The game is expected to draw significant attention from fans of both teams and football enthusiasts across Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday night, with a place in the Class B championship on the line.

Will the Outlaws maintain their unbeaten streak, or can the Tigers pull off an upset for the ages?

A win will send Coach Matt LeGrand’s Tigers to the State Championship game.
