Christmas parades on tap this weekend

Kicking off the holiday season last night was the annual Okmulgee Festival of Lights Parade, which drew hundreds of people to downtown Okmulgee.

This weekend, be sure to check out some of the other events going on in the area, including the Morris Lions Club Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Here in Henryetta, the Christmas Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. as the sights and sounds of the season travel down Main Street.

While there, be sure to visit the Hallmark Christmas event in the park next to City Hall beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Henryetta Chamber of Commerce invites the public come to the Mistletoe Market, located at 5th and Trudgeon, for a unique shopping and entertainment experience.

The market will feature various vendors both inside and out, along with food trucks and music. It is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Christmas.

Beggs Jingle Bells Day

Next weekend, Beggs will hold their annual parade Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. Those wishing to enter should email atchamber23@ gmail.com to sign up and for information.

The Beggs Christmas Bazaar also returns again this year on Dec. 14 and will be held both inside and outside of First Baptist Church in downtown Beggs. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and space can be reserved for $25. Pay in person at Club House Leathers and Accessories (104 E. Main Street) in downtown Beggs.

As the Beggs Area Chamber of Commerce urges residents to shop local and shop small, patrons are encouraged to get Jingle Bell Day Tickets from participating Beggs merchants.

Be sure to keep those tickets for a chance to win $1,000, $500 or $250. The drawing will be held Dec. 14 after the parade. You must be present to win.

One of the highlights during the season is the Beggs United Methodist Church Chicken Noodle Dinner. Held in conjunction with Beggs Jingle Bells Day, it will also take place Saturday, Dec. 14. Serving time is 11 a.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 10 and under, and the meal will include veggies, a roll, a drink and dessert. A gift bazaar will also feature lots of great gifts, crafts and edible treats.

Beggs is also holding a Christmas Lighting Contest. A winner from each ward in the city will be named. Judging will take place next week, and you can sign up at Clubhouse Leathers for information and details.

Follow the Beggs Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page for more information or their website beggs-area- chamber-of-commerce.square.site.
