Schulter basketball squads hit the court running
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

The Schulter Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs basketball teams, led by Head Coach Price Brown, have kicked off their 2024-25 seasons with strong performances in Class B competition. Both teams have shown promise and resilience as they progress through their schedules, combining for a 10-4 overall record.

— Bulldogs Show Fight with Balanced Start The Bulldogs (5-2) have displayed grit and determination in their early matchups. They opened the season with a close 45-38 victory over Bokoshe on Nov. 1 before falling on the road to Oilton, 69-25. The team rebounded with three commanding wins against Hanna (49-20), Butner (65-35), and a rematch with Hanna (58-27). The Bulldogs fell in a hard-fought 47-42 loss to Macomb, but won in a close 43-40 matchup at Mason.

The Bulldogs traveled to Mason on Nov. 18. December marks the start of tournament play, including the Wilson Tiger Classic and matchups against district rivals like Midway and Wilson.

— Lady Bulldogs Dominate Early, Test Themselves in Overtime The Lady Bulldogs (5-2) started their season on fire, with commanding wins over Bokoshe (69-10), Oilton (61-15), and Hanna (54-16). Their balanced scoring and defensive dominance continued with victories over Butner (70-11) and a second matchup against Hanna (60-16).

However, recent games have tested the Lady Bulldogs’ resolve. They dropped a narrow 62-58 overtime decision to Macomb on Nov. 15, followed by another heartbreaker at Mason on Nov. 18, losing 43-40 in overtime.

The Lady Bulldogs will regroup at home against Braggs on Nov. 22, followed by key matchups in December at the Wilson Tiger Classic. With a mix of young talent and experienced leadership, the team looks poised to make noise in Class B play.

– What’s Ahead As the season progresses, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs face a packed schedule, including tournaments and challenging matchups against district foes like Graham-Dustin, Wetumka, and Bowlegs. Both teams are also gearing up for the Graham- Dustin Tournament in January, which will provide a significant test ahead of the playoffs.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support the teams at upcoming home games and tournaments as Schulter basketball aims for a strong finish to the season.

More details, including players will be updated in upcoming editions.
