Dear Editor,
Dear Editor,
In re-electing Donald Trump as our 47th President, a majority of Americans voted for a return to common sense. A U.S. President, like Donald Trump, that promotes commonsense policies in governance gives our nation, our peoples and even people across the world the best opportunity to thrive in every area of life. Right now, many people are just in survival mode. It’s time to thrive again!
The voters of Okmulgee County turned out to show strong support for a return to common sense at the national level through their re-election of former President Donald Trump and their continued support of Congressman Josh Brecheen.
They also showed their continued support of commonsense governance at the state level by electing former Secretary of State and Native American Affairs Brian Bingman as Corporation Commissioner and re-electing our very own Representative Scott Fetgatter. Rep. Fetgatter, whose district covers parts of three counties, has worked tirelessly since 2016 to create and champion commonsense policies that have greatly benefitted our community and our state. He also is one of the most accessible, compassionate, hard-working legislators I know and truly cares for the well-being of all his constituents.
I also want to thank Rep. Scott Fetgatter and Democratic candidate Rosie Lynch for a race well run. It’s important for voters of all parties to have choices, and I applaud them both for being willing to represent their parties as candidates for State Representative. It’s a huge commitment of time and resources not only during campaign season, but through being willing to be accessible 24/7 year round after being elected.
As this campaign cycle closes, I would like to remind everyone that we will begin the process of electing a new State Senator to replace Roger Thompson. Watch for opportunities to meet the candidates as we host them at future meetings and in a candidate forum before the primary election to be held on March 5, 2025.
For Common Sense, Marsheila Prior, Okmulgee County Republicans Chair
