On Monday, a celebration of culture in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Creek Nation Council House. The day promises a variety of activities highlighting the rich traditions and contributions of Native American communities, particularly the Muscogee Nation. Attendees can look forward to Creek Hymn singing, a traditional stomp dance and handson activities, providing an immersive experience into the cultural practices of the Muscogee Nation and other Native tribes. Throughout the day, informational speakers will take the stage to educate and inspire the community.

Special guest Wayne Garner, a celebrated Cherokee Nation singer, songwriter, and actor, will perform during the event. Garner, who has appeared in notable series such as Yellowstone and 1883, as well as in films like Killers of the Flower Moon, brings a powerful connection to Native storytelling through music. Garner’s CMA and Grammy- nominated songs are expected to bring a memorable touch to the day’s entertainment.

Other special guests include: • Russell Sun Eagle, Pawnee Nation - Owner of Sun Eagle Media, Okie Podcast Host, Spirit Talkers Host/Producer, Visual Specialist

• Jordan Harmon, Muscogee Nation, Juris Doctorate, with certificate in Native American Law from the University of Tulsa, serves as the Policy Analyst for the Indigenous Environmental Network to advance a climate justice policy agenda.

• Samson Tabbytitle, Muscogee Nation, Professional MMA, Kickboxer and Muay Thai

• Will Buck, Muscogee Nation,Native American Comedian, writer/actor on You Tube series, “Rez Cops,” performed at various events, festivals, and comedy shows.

• Michael Loman, Choctaw Nation Native American Dancer and Performer, Fancy Dance, Hoop Dance, Eagle Dance. Plays the flute and shares the meaning of the songs, highlighted at conferences, news outlets and featured in magazines.

• Mary Hammer, Osage Nation. She serves as the Communication Officer of the North Eastern Oklahoma Indigenous Safety and Education Organization (NÕISE), Osage Nation WIC Site Coordinator and owner of INDIGI Girl Magic.

- The day will include an Indigenous fashion show, open to all ages. No modeling experience is necessary, and participants are encouraged to showcase their unique Indigenous designs. Check-in starts at 12 p.m. This event is a wonderful opportunity for individuals to celebrate their heritage through traditional attire.

Traditional Food and Vendors: The Mvskoke Lady Legends will serve a traditional meal at noon. Various Indigenous vendors will also be present, offering arts, crafts, food and cultural resources.

The event, organized by the Indigenous Peoples’ Association (IPA), invites everyone in the community to participate. Volunteers are needed to assist with setting up tables, chairs, and canopies starting at 10 a.m. Attendees can also expect a series of door prizes and opportunities to engage with the different resource booths available at the celebration.
