Henryetta FFA and 4-H member Avery Smith was awarded the 2024 Jerry Shoemake All Around Exhibitor Award from the Okmulgee County Free Fair. Avery has been a 4-H member for the last nine years, first starting as a Cloverbud and then becoming a regular member. She is on her 2nd year as a FFA member and a Freshman.
Henryetta FFA and 4-H member Avery Smith was awarded the 2024 Jerry Shoemake All Around Exhibitor Award from the Okmulgee County Free Fair. Avery has been a 4-H member for the last nine years, first starting as a Cloverbud and then becoming a regular member. She is on her 2nd year as a FFA member and a Freshman.
This is the second year for the award to be given. The award was developed to encourage participation in all areas of the fall fair in remembrance of Jerry Shoemake, who was a former county fairboard member and state representative. To eligible to receive the award a exhibitor must:
• Compete in a judging contest
• Enter at least two inside ex- hibits
• Have at least one livestock exhibit Points are awarded per placing and added together to determine the overall exhibitor.
Avery participated in cattle grading, had 43 inside exhibits, exhibited livestock of: one heifer, one cow-calf pair, one breeding hog, and five rabbits. She had a total of 197 points. Congratulations!
