Lady Dragons advance to State
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

The Dewar Lady Dragons softball team displayed determination as they punched their ticket to the State Tournament with three consecutive victories in the Regional Tournament, securing an impressive 36-4 record for the season.

In a hard-fought battle against the Quinton Lady Savages, the Lady Dragons clung to a narrow 6-5 victory after building a commanding 4-run lead early in the game. Pitcher Brooke Thomas delivered a standout performance, allowing just one hit and one run over two innings while striking out four. Temperance Parker secured the save, ensuring Dewar held onto their lead despite Quinton’s lategame surge.

Emma Bear led Dewar’s offense with two crucial runs batted in, supported by contributions from Jaycie Berry, Emmy Hall, Bre Harvell, Kinsey Maldonado, Alyssa Baughman, and Cam Casey, each contributing hits that helped maintain their early advantage. Defensively, the Lady Dragons were flawless, committing no errors and showcasing their fielding prowess under pressure.

In their subsequent matchup against the Allen Mustangs, Dewar continued their dominant form, triumphing 9-4. Emmy Hall’s three RBIs and a decisive seven-run fourth inning highlighted by Kinsey Maldonado’s pivotal double propelled Dewar to victory. Pitcher Brooke Thomas again shone, pitching a complete game and striking out six while allowing only one earned run.

The Lady Dragons sealed their Regional dominance with a 6-3 victory over Allen Mustangs, powered by Emma Bear’s stellar performance at the plate, collecting three hits and sparking crucial scoring opportunities throughout the game. Pitcher Temperance Parker showcased her prowess, allowing zero earned runs over six innings while striking out six.

With their Regional success, Dewar Lady Dragons now set their sights on the State Tournament, where they will face Red Oak on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Field 3, Devon Park in Oklahoma City. A win will see them advance to the next round scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m., positioning themselves as formidable contenders for the state title.
