Friday Night Lights in Okmulgee County
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

As the week winds down, Okmulgee County gears up for an exciting lineup of high school football matchups this Friday, promising thrills and rivalries under the Friday night lights.

— Dewar Dragons vs. Dermott Rams

The Dewar Dragons are hitting the road this week with a determination to bounce back after their recent home defeat. Last Friday, Dewar faced a tough challenge against Weleetka, falling 36-20 and ending their undefeated streak for the season. However, the Dragons remain formidable on the road, boasting a six-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Their opponents, the Dermott Rams, rebounded with a 62-6 win over Guy-Perkins following a disappointing season opener loss to Augusta, 28-24. The Rams, now 1-1 for the season, will defend their home turf against Dewar, aiming to secure their first victory of the year.

— Morris Eagles vs. Haskell Haymakers Homecoming

Morris High School is abuzz with anticipation as they prepare to celebrate Homecoming and host the Haskell Haymakers. The Eagles, coming off a challenging loss to Liberty, 53-20, are eager to reignite their season in front of their devoted fans. Despite a tough start with back-to-back losses, Morris is focused on turning the tide against Haskell.

Haskell, currently 0-2 after a recent defeat against Colcord, 54-7, faces an uphill battle against the Eagles. The Haymakers aim to defy the odds and clinch their first win of the season on Morris’s home turf.

— Beggs Golden Demons vs. Okmulgee Bulldogs The historic rivalry between Beggs and Okmulgee takes center stage as the Demons host the Bulldogs at Beggs High School. With a commanding 10-0 record against Okmulgee since 2014, Beggs enters the matchup with confidence following consecutive victories, including a recent 34-25 win over Henryetta.

In contrast, Okmulgee continues to seek their first win of the season after falling to Mounds, 32-6, in their last outing. The Bulldogs, now 0-2, are determined to reverse their fortunes against Beggs, aiming to break their losing streak and secure a statement victory.

— Wilson Tigers vs. Watts Engineers

The Wilson Tigers, boasting an impressive 2-0 record, hit the road to face the Watts Engineers in what promises to be a competitive showdown. Wilson’s strong start to the season includes notable victories, setting the stage for a challenging matchup against Watts, who are 1-1 after recent games.

-Fans can expect an evening filled with gridiron excitement as these teams battle for supremacy under the Friday Night Lights.
