Lady Knights secure 4-3 win over Eufaula
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

The Henryetta Lady Knights softball team edged out the Eufaula Lady Ironheads in a thrilling 4-3 victory on Monday in the second game of a doubleheader. The Lady Knights capitalized on Eufaula’s fielding errors and strong pitching to secure the win.

In the first game, the Lady Knights couldn’t keep up with Eufaula, as they lost 23-4. However, the second game saw the Lady Knights step up to the plate.

Eufaula started strong, scoring in the first inning when Abby Box grounded out, bringing in a run. However, Henryetta quickly tied the game in the bottom of the inning, thanks to an error by Eufaula’s defense.

The Lady Knights seized the lead in the second inning, scoring three runs off two more defensive errors by Eufaula and a key RBI single from Jayleigh Easter. This offensive surge proved crucial, as it gave Henryetta enough breathing room to hold on to the lead for the rest of the game.

Keegan Hamric led Henryetta from the mound, delivering a stellar performance. She pitched three innings, allowing zero hits and three runs – only one of which was earned – while striking out five and walking five. Hamric’s control and ability to work out of tough situations kept Eufaula’s offense in check. Eufaula’s pitcher, Hannah Needham, took the loss despite striking out three over one and one-third innings. She allowed four runs, none of which were earned, due to her team’s defensive struggles.

Jayleigh Easter and Cialee Watkins were the offensive stars for Henryetta, each recording a hit and an RBI while working well together in the heart of the lineup. Abby Box led Eufaula’s offense with one RBI, while Briley Gragg and Emma Lovett showed speed on the base paths, each stealing multiple bases. Eufaula worked the count effectively, earning five walks and swiping a total of five stolen bases during the game.
