Teams prepare for Friday showdowns
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

Morris Eagles at Liberty Tigers

The Morris Eagles are gearing up for a challenging road game against the Liberty Tigers this Friday at 7 p.m. Coach Daniels and his Morris squad are looking to bounce back after a tough 62-12 loss to Hartshorne in their season opener last week on the road.

Liberty, on the other hand, secured a convincing 42-20 victory over Summit Christian Academy. The Eagles will need to regroup and focus on tightening their defense against a formidable Liberty offense.

Next week, Morris will hold their first home game of the season, and celebrate Homecoming, as they face the Haskell Haymakers.

— Henryetta Knights at Beggs Golden Demons Henryetta Knights are on the road this week against the Demons at 7 p.m., hoping to turn the tide in their favor after recent struggles against Beggs.

Henryetta’s defense showcased dominance in their first two games with commanding wins – both with 58 points – over Kellyville and Okemah.

On offense, Jason Powders was instrumental with 153 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Nathan White added 73 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Beggs, coming off a 20-10 victory over Verdigris, aims to build on their momentum and extend their winning streak.

Beggs quarterback Billy Ramsey emerged as a key figure, delivering three touchdown passes that collectively covered 153 yards. Receiver Ryan Grayson had four catches for 127 yards, and two touchdowns.

The Knights will need to bring their A-game to contain Beggs’ potent offense and seek redemption from their previous encounters.

The Demons will aim to replicate their previous success and secure another decisive victory at home.

— Dewar Dragons vs. Weleetka

The Dewar Dragons came out with roar at their season opener last Friday with a 69-0 win over the Wetumka Chieftains, which ended by mercy rule at the half.

This week, Coach Josh Been and the Dragons will host the Weleetka Outlaws at 7 p.m. The last meet- ing between the two teams was in 2021, with the Demons winning 64-18.

The Outlaws shut out Davenport last week 50-0, and are looking for redemption – and a win – against a Dragons offense that is hitting on all cylinders, and a stifling defense that loves to keep their opponents out of the end zone.

— Wilson Tigers vs. Savanna Bulldogs

The Wilson Tigers will host a home non-conference game against Savanna on Friday, at 7:00 p.m. Wilson, eager to continue their season on a high note, will look to capitalize on their home field advantage and showcase their strengths against Savanna.

The Tigers under Coach Matt LeGrand opened their football season last Friday by defeating the Strother Yellowjackets 42-24.

Savanna beat Oklahoma Bible 50-44 to open their season.

Football fans can expect an exciting evening filled with intense matchups and standout performances as these teams battle for supremacy on the gridiron.
