--- Game 1: Vian 8, Henryetta 7 Despite an impressive threehit performance from Ailanee Hicks, including a solo home run in the third inning, the Lady Knights couldn’t overcome the Lady Wolverines in the first game. Hicks’ hot bat led the offense as she went 3-for-4, contributing key hits in the first, third, and fourth innings. Her third-inning home run, followed by a solo shot from Allie Davis, helped Henryetta close the gap to 4-3.
The Lady Knights battled back again in the fifth, with Maddie Rock launching a two-run homer to center field, putting Henryetta ahead 7-5. However, Vian responded in the sixth, tying the game at 7-7 before taking the lead in the seventh on a Halli Russell RBI single.
Kelsey Brandt pitched a complete game for Henryetta, allowing eight hits and eight runs, though only two of those were earned, striking out six and walking five. Despite out-hitting Vian 13 to 8, the Lady Knights’ defensive miscues proved costly in the tight contest.
--- Game 2: Henryetta 4, Vian 4 The second game of the doubleheader ended in a 4-4 tie. Henryetta jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the second inning, fueled by Cialee Watkins’ single and smart base running that saw the Lady Knights capitalize on a passed ball and an error by Vian. However, the Wolverines clawed their way back in the third inning, with key walks by Lakoeta Cheater and Kala Gibbins setting up Bostyn Rodgers’ RBI single that tied the game.
Pitcher Keegan Hamric led Henryetta’s defense, allowing just one hit and four runs in two and one-third innings, striking out four but walking nine. The Lady Knights’ aggressive baserunning kept them competitive, stealing six bases, with Khloey Coates and Watkins leading the charge.
Henryetta’s fielding was spotless in the second game, committing no errors, with standout defensive efforts from Avery Perez, who had six chances in the field.
The Lady Knights are currently playing in the Oktaha Tournament, before returning home on Sept. 16 for Senior Night against Eufaula.
