Lady Dragons top Wetumka
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

Temperance Parker had a standout performance, driving in four runs on two hits to lead the undefeated Dewar Lady Dragons to a commanding 12-2 win over the Wetumka Lady Chieftains on Tuesday. Parker’s big day at the plate, which included a home run and a sacrifice bunt, highlighted Dewar’s dominance as they continue their undefeated season.

The Lady Dragons wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Parker’s single started the rally, followed by an RBI single from Emma Bear and a fielder’s choice by Brooke Thomas. An error by Wetumka added another run to give Dewar an early 3-0 lead.

Parker continued to shine in the second inning, laying down a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt to score another run. In the third inning, Dewar exploded with a four-run rally. Alyssa Baughman’s single was followed by Parker’s powerful home run to right field, which added two more runs to the lead.

Brooke Thomas delivered a strong performance in the circle, earning the win by pitching three innings, allowing only two hits and one run while striking out seven. Parker also secured a save for the Lady Dragons. Wetumka struggled against Dewar’s offense and defense, with their starter surrendering 12 runs (11 earned) on 14 hits over four innings.

Dewar’s offense was in full swing, with Bre Harvell and Kinsey Maldonado each collecting three hits. Jaycie Berry and Baughman also contributed multiple hits, and the team show- cased their speed on the bases, stealing six bags, including two from Berry.

The Lady Dragons, currently undefeated, are riding high on momentum as they prepare for their next challenge – the Wilson Softball Tournament, which kicked off Thursday. Dewar will face stiff competition, but with Parker and the rest of the team firing on all cylinders, the Lady Dragons look poised for continued success.
