• Board of County Commissioners Meeting: Provided updates on emergency management projects and ongoing operations.
• FEMA Tornado Recovery Followup Meeting: Participated in the weekly meeting to review the progress of tornado recovery efforts. The documentation process is now 98% complete. All remaining supporting documents and reimbursement requests are scheduled for submission by Friday, Sept. 6, 2024.
• Volunteer Meeting (Aug. 19): Held a meeting with volunteers, with 8 out of 15 members in attendance, along with 3 guests. Discussions included upcoming training opportunities, updates on current operations, and preparations for the fall and winter seasons.
--- Project Updates
• 300 Rd. 406 Mitigation Project: The mitigation project has been submitted to FEMA for final approval by the Program Manager.
• Outdoor Warning Siren Project: All required signatures and paperwork have been submitted to FEMA. We are currently awaiting notification from the State Department of Emergency Management regarding the award to proceed with the project.
--- Weekly Incident Responses • Structure Fires: Responded to two structure fires within the county. Both incidents were canceled while en route as the fires were contained and extinguished prior to arrival.
• Morris Water Issues: Received notification of ongoing water issues in the City of Morris. Water trailers were placed on standby for potential deployment; however, the issues were resolved before deployment was necessary. The water leaks were caused by contractors boring for fiber optic internet cables.
• Potential Street Failure in Morris: Notified by the City of Morris about a potential street failure on N. 6th Street between Adams and Jefferson, at the city limits adjacent to the unincorporated portion of Okmulgee County. Documented the issue with photographs and forwarded the information to Commissioner Wallace for further action.
• Accident Involving County Equipment: Responded to an accident involving county equipment on Sunday evening. There were no injuries, and the damage to the county equipment was minimal. --- Equipment Update
• All Emergency Management equipment, except for two strategically placed water trailers, has been relocated to the Emergency Management Office in preparation for upcoming operations.
