The Preston Lady Pirates softball team has been on a tear, extending their impressive season record to 9-1 with a series of decisive wins over the past week. Led by standout performances from key players, the Lady Pirates have shown their strength both at the plate and in the field as they prepare for a crucial stretch of their schedule.

--- Hurt’s big day propels Preston past Rejoice Christian Last Thursday, Ashleigh Hurt delivered a stellar performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Pirates to a 16-0 victory over the Rejoice Christian Lady Eagles. The offense erupted early, with Preston scoring six runs in the first inning, including a two-RBI single from Josie Cope and an RBI double from Kynlee Martin. Hurt added another RBI single, and the Lady Pirates never looked back.

Josie Cope dominated on the mound, pitching a no-hitter over four innings, striking out nine batters without allowing a walk. The Lady Pirates tallied 15 hits in the game, with Hurt and Cope each collecting three. The defense was flawless, not committing a single error.

--- Cope drives in four as Lady Pirates defeat Crossings Christian On Friday, the Lady Pirates continued their winning ways with an 8-3 victory over Crossings Christian MS Knights at Rogers State College. Josie Cope was the hero of the day, driving in four runs, including a two-run homer in the first inning. She also earned the win on the mound, giving up just three unearned runs on six hits while striking out five.

The Lady Pirates’ offense was relentless, with Cope and Caris Tecumseh leading the charge. Tecumseh’s double in the third inning added to the early lead, and the team never let up, securing another solid win.

--- Phillip’s clutch hitting leads to win over Prue On Saturday, the Lady Pirates faced off against Prue and emerged with a dominant 13-0 win, thanks in large part to Na’Braijhanae Phillips, who drove in four runs on three hits. Phillips set the tone early with a two-RBI double in the third inning and followed it up with a pair of singles, contributing to the team’s overwhelming offensive output.

Isabella Turner was nearly untouchable on the mound, pitching a five-inning no-hitter while striking out eight. The Lady Pirates collected 14 hits, with multiple players, including Alynn LeBlanc, Sophia Bunner, and Ashleigh Hurt, recording multi-hit games. The defense remained sharp, committing no errors in the game.

--- Lady Pirates triumph over Stroud The Lady Pirates capped off their successful week with a 9-1 victory over the Stroud Tigers at home on Monday. The scoring began in the second inning when Olivia Beaver tripled, setting up a run-scoring single by Ashleigh Hurt. Taylan Starr earned the win, allowing just one run on one hit over six innings while striking out eight.

With a 9-1 record under Coach Jimmy Hurst, the Lady Pirates are hitting their stride as they head into their next game on the road against Eufaula. The team’s balanced attack and solid pitching continue to make them a formidable opponent in their quest for a standout season.
