Henryetta sweeps Okmulgee in doubleheader
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR,

The Henryetta Lady Knights delivered a powerful performance on Monday, sweeping the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs in a doubleheader with decisive wins of 15-4 and 10-0. Ailanee Hicks led the charge in the first game, going 3-for-3 at the plate, while the Lady Knights’ pitching and defense were nearly flawless throughout both games.

— Hicks powers Lady Knights to 15-4 victory The first game saw Henryetta come back from an early deficit to claim a commanding 15-4 win. The Lady Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, thanks to a pair of doubles, including one from Tiah Harjo that drove in a run.

However, the Lady Knights quickly turned the game around in the bottom of the first. A combination of timely hitting and Okmulgee errors allowed Henryetta to score six runs on three hits, highlighted by a two-run error that put the Lady Knights ahead.

The second inning was an offensive explosion for Henryetta, as they piled on nine runs to extend their lead to 15-3. Ailanee Hicks continued her stel- lar day with a double that drove in a run, followed by a two-run double from Kelsey Brandt. Keegan Hamric and Serenity Rex also contributed with two-run singles.

Pitcher Allie Davis earned the win for Henryetta, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Okmulgee’s Ally Lowe took the loss, surrendering 15 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits over two innings.

Henryetta’s offense tallied 11 hits in the game, with multiple-hit performances from Serenity Rex and Cialee Watkins. The Lady Knights were also solid defensively, turning a double play to stifle any further scoring opportunities for Okmulgee.

— Lady Knights shut out Lady Bulldogs 10-0 The second game of the doubleheader was all Henryetta, as the Lady Knights cruised to a 10-0 shutout victory. The Lady Knights jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, scoring five runs on four hits. Serenity Rex and Grace Pollard were key contributors, with Rex driving in one run on a single and Pollard bringing home three runs with a single.

Henryetta continued to dominate in the second inning, adding five more runs. Rachel Burden scored on a sacrifice fly, Cialee Watkins singled in a run, and Kelsey Brandt and Allie Davis each added RBIs to extend the lead.

Kelsey Brandt was dominant on the mound, throwing three shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. The Lady Knights’ defense was also stellar, committing no errors and making all the plays needed to keep Okmulgee off the board.

Grace Pollard led the Lady Knights offensively, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Rex and Pollard each collected two hits, and the team showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks in the game.

The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs will regroup and prepare to host the Okmulgee Festival, which began yesterday.
