In a gripping baseball showdown on Tuesday, the Preston Pirates faced a tough defeat against the Stuart Hornets, with Stuart claiming victory 7-5 after a dramatic comeback.

The Pirates started strong, taking an early lead with Bradley Winford’s RBI groundout in the first inning followed by Noah Wilson’s powerful homer, putting them ahead by four runs. Adding another run in the third, Preston seemed poised for a commanding win.

However, the Hornets turned the game around in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on opportunities with Cody Cook’s single, a hit batter, and a key walk by Trenton Wimberly, knotting the score at 4-4. Stuart then surged ahead in the fifth inning as Dallin Whitaker and Nolan Lindley contributed RBIs, securing a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Hunter McElhannon took the mound initially for Preston, pitching three and twothirds innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out three.
