George Allen Barnes

George Allen Barnes, 67, of Okmulgee, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Okmulgee. He was born on May 26, 1957, in Ada to George Allen Barnes, Sr. and Nora June (Stone) Barnes. George was a dedicated ironworker for Bennett Steel in Sapulpa for an impressive 38 years before retiring. George’s commitment to his career was undeniable.

In his youth, George attended schools in Schulter and proudly graduated from Schulter High School in 1975. Throughout his life, he remained passionate about hunting and fishing, embracing the spirit of an avid outdoorsman. He also found joy in playing golf and was a cherished member of the Fountainhead Creek Golf Club.

Among his proudest accomplishments was his longstanding membership in the Iron Workers Union Local 584 in Tulsa – a testament to his hard work and dedication over the years. George’s work ethic and contributions to his profession have left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

George was preceded in death by his loving parents and a brother, Jerry Barnes.

He is survived by his sons: Cody Barnes of Preston, and Clint Barnes and wife Allison of Okmulgee. Additionally, he is survived by four sisters: May 26, 1957 – July 27, 2024

Mollie Bennett and husband Dave of Sapulpa, Louise Barnes of Henryetta; Judy Rawlings and husband Mike of Schulter; Betty Hedrick and boyfriend David Houston of Mounds, and by a brother Johnny Barnes of Henryetta. George leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his grandchildren: Strayden Barnes, Alyvia Barnes, Easton Barnes, and Wyatt Barnes. He is also remembered fondly by a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth throughout his life.

Memorial services for George will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Integrity Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Trudgeon St. in Henryetta, with Rev. Ryan Wells officiating. Inurnment will take place at Bache Redoak Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service, 410 E. Trudgeon St. in Henryetta.
