VFW Post 539 celebrated some very special young people, along with honoring the Auxiliary for 103 years of existence at their meeting held last week.
The members recognized Breanna Campbell- Bevenue from Henryetta High School, who represented VFW Auxiliary Post 539 recently in the National VFW Auxiliary “Red, White, and Blue … National Anthem” singing competition. The 15-year-old took the top spot in her division (K-8).
The young lady was presented several special gifts, and a check for $500.
Also in attendance was Brennan Hodge, Okmulgee Dunbar School 8th Grader, who won first place for Oklahoma for the VFW Patriot Pen essay award.
Brennan also received the National Merit Award from the National VFW and was presented a check for $500.
VFW Post 539 Auxiliary was also recognized for 103 years of existence. Those in attendance include Lori Nelson, Judy McElhannon, Susie Bartlett, Linda Dudley, Felicia Cummings, Tammy Hamilton, Teresa Stevenson and Carol Smith.
