Firework shows, events planned Saturday

Firework shows, events planned Saturday

The Henryetta Lions and Rotary Clubs will hold a fundraiser kickball game Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. at Nichols Park. The cost is $5 and children 12 and under are free.

Food trucks will be on hand and there will be halftime games.

And then, to finish off the weekend, Hwy 62 Fireworks will present its 9th annual fireworks display on Saturday, at Nichols Park in Henryetta. The show will begin at dark, and the event and parking are free. There will be a parachute drop for the kids before the show begins.

-For those who want even more fireworks magic, head south on Saturday as there are two events planned.

Schulter Baptist Church will hold its annual fireworks show Saturday, July 6, at 7 p.m. at the Schulter School.

There will be live music, refreshments and food trucks. Attendees are urged to bring your own lawn chairs to watch the show. No personal fireworks are allowed.

– The threat of inclement weather forced the reschedule of the highly anticipated annual Fireworks Extravaganza, which was set for July 4.

The event will now be held on Saturday, still at Okmulgee’s Municipal Park.

Event planners made the decision to move the show. The National Weather Service had forecast strong to severe storms Thursday afternoon and continued into Thursday night across northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. Damaging winds and large hail was the main concern.

All events will remain the same, with the fireworks beginning at 10 p.m.

Personal fireworks in the park are not allowed.

There will be food vendors in the park for your enjoyment beginning at 7 p.m., including hot dogs, chips and pop from the Knights of Columbus, Raven Rock Pizza, Antonio’s Fried Fish, Jack’s Ice Cream, Coffee Gait and Frost Bites & Java Delights.

Live music will also be a feature of the event as Lance Gouge and his band starts entertaining at 7 p.m.

There also will be two water slides provided by the Fraternal Order of Police #96 to entertain and cool off the kids. Brenda Mann will be in the park, handing out fun stuff to the children.

If you are unable to attend, you can watch online on the Neals Homestore Facebook page. It will also be broadcast Live on 88.3 for the surrounding area around the Okmulgee Municipal Park.
