Fireworks Extravaganza planned

The City of Okmulgee wishes America, the greatest country in the world, a Happy Birthday with a wonderful Fireworks Extravaganza.

City of Okmulgee Emergency Management Director and Licensed Pyrotechnician Ken Anderson is putting the final touches on another spectacular fireworks display next Thursday, July 4, at Okmulgee’s Municipal Park.

“We look forward to a real show-stopper display,” Anderson said. “We will be shooting over 1,000 shells and choreographed to six songs. Hopefully everyone will bring their families out to experience the fireworks and enjoy the park.” Anderson reminds the public that ‘as always, you cannot shoot personal fireworks in the park.”

This is one of the biggest shows in the area, thanks to Okmulgee City Council and the generosity of the sponsors of the show which include:

• Anchor Financial Services

• CP Kelco

• Domino’s

• El Avocado’s

• El Tapatio

• Fraternal Order of Police #96

• First Family Federal Credit Union

• Flooring Liquidators

• Greg Marriott, CPA

• Gibson Tax Service

• Harlan Ford

• Just Dirt

• Mabrey Bank

• McClendon-Winters Funeral Home

• Miss Mary’s Market

• Neals Homestore

• Priegel Homeland Insurance

• The Rodeo

• State Farm Insurance Agents

• Stewart Martin Kubota

• Walter’s Real Estate There will be food vendors in the park for your enjoyment beginning at 7 p.m., including hot dogs, chips and pop from the Knights of Columbus, Raven Rock Pizza, Antonio’s Fried Fish, Jack’s Ice Cream, Coffee Gait and Frost Bites & Java Delights.

“We also will be featuring Lance Gouge and his band with great music starting at 7 p.m., so you can come out early to eat and enjoy the music and celebrate with your family before the fireworks show begins at 10 p.m.,” Anderson said.

There also will be two water slides provided by the Fraternal Order of Police #96 to entertain and cool off the kids. Brenda Mann will be in the park, handing out fun stuff to the children.

While the community will be able to enjoy the fireworks display all over the city, however, there is nothing compared to watching, hearing and feeling the wonderful show at the park. But if you are unable to attend, you can watch online on the Neals Homestore Facebook page. It will also be broadcast Live on 88.3 for the surrounding area around the Okmulgee Municipal Park.

“Join with your family and friends, be safe and healthy, enjoy the show and wish America a Happy 248th Birthday.”

— Schulter Baptist Fireworks Show

Schulter Baptist Church will hold its annual fireworks show Saturday, July 6, at 7 p.m. at the Schulter School.

There will be live music, refreshments and food trucks. Attendees are urged to bring your own lawn chairs to watch the show. No personal fireworks are allowed.

— Hwy 62 Fireworks Display

Hwy 62 Fireworks will present its 9th annual fireworks display on Saturday, July 6, at Nichols Park in Henryetta. The show will begin at dark, and the event and parking are free. There will be a parachute drop for the kids before the show begins.
