The Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association’s 2024 Grower of the Year Award was presented to Okmulgee County’s own Ron Hollis at the awards luncheon.
Ron and his wife Elece live on their Holliswood Farm near Boynton. Ron planted 40 acres of Kanza & Pawnee in 1999. After retiring, he added another 40 acres to his orchard and black Angus cattle operation.
Hollis has completed the Oklahoma Pecan Management Course three times – in 2005, 2015 and then in 2023, returning with two of his daughters to learn more.
Ron and wife have seven children and 29 grandchildren, so harvest time is a true family affair. He has been a regular attendee at pecan workshops, field days and the OPGA’s annual meetings. They are completing a new barn with a processing area for their pecans. He has been cooperating with Kelly Seuhs on PNC monitoring on his Holliswood Farm.
Congratulations to Ron! He is a great example of an Oklahoma pecan grower and loves to tell some of the best stories.
