The Henryetta School Board met for their regular meeting on Monday, beginning with the approval of workers’ compensation (OSAG) and property and casualty insurance (OSIG) coverage agreements for the upcoming school year. The board also approved the income and financial reports for the 2023-2024 school year.
In other financial matters, two fundraisers were approved for the next school year, including the annual fireworks booth and a fresh corn sale to support cheerleading expenses.
The board also approved an agreement with Jay Jenkins for accounting and consulting services for the upcoming school year.
Additionally, the board approved an agreement between the school and FAFSA Data Portal Completion. This initiative aims to streamline the process. Starting with the class of 2025, completing the FAFSA or an opt-out form will be a graduation requirement. This state-provided tracking system will assist in monitoring the completion status of students, ensuring compliance with the new law.
The wrestling program’s success was highlighted, with the team achieving significant milestones, including five state qualifiers.
Also approved at the meeting were:
- The minutes from the regular and special meetings on April 8, May 13, and May 29
- An agreement between the school and United Community Action Program Head Start for the upcoming school year
- The surplus of technology items for the 2023-2024 school year
- Dutch Vandeborn named volunteer lay coach for the upcoming school year
After returning from an executive session, the board voted to hire one new early childhood education teacher for the new school year.
Lastly, members of the board took a moment to express their gratitude to outgoing Superintendent Dwayne Noble, thanking him for his service and dedication to the district and wishing him a happy retirement.
