Joel 2:30-32 “And I will give portents in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. And it shall come to pass that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls.”

Natural wonders take many forms: great waterfalls, unusual rock formations, and yes, eclipses and auroras. God has formed it all and has seen to it that we are placed in such a way that the elements produce for us marvelous shows that leave us without words to describe them. And, as Joel points out, they are part of our natural world and not there to frighten us.
God expects us to be brave and courageous, to step out in faith to face that from which others may shrink. But there is a fine line between fearless faith and genuine stupidity, and it is defined by how we walk our faith journey. Do we genuinely practice our faith daily with prayer and study? Everything needs maintenance to keep it running properly, including our faith. We mustn’t say “I do” to Jesus and then expect His perfection to be dumped into us and that’s it. We live on a perfect planet created by God, but we live in a world that is ruled by Satan. To think a Christian doesn’t have a minute by minute battle every day is naive to the point of stupidity. True belief comes through constant practice, and even then we fail. But God sees beyond that failure into the heart of a true believer. When repentance is real, He accepts it and we’re once again made whole. We never have one single thing ever to be afraid of! No matter the weather, traffic, or other surroundings, God is there to see to it we make it to our destination, the one *He* has decided for us. Either way it’s all good, because we’ll be able to praise Him from our earthly place or our heavenly place.
Take the trips. Enjoy the waterfalls, the canyons, and the eclipses and other astronomical sights. They’re all meant to happen. And sing out your praises to the Lord for His hand in all those natural wonders. He’s not done yet, and neither are you!
