Max Eugene Cline
Obituaries

Max Eugene Cline

A memorial service for Max Eugene Cline will be held June 3, 2024, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dewar.

Max Eugene Cline was born April 1, 1934, in Wewoka to Orville and Bessie Cline. He passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Okmulgee at the age of 90.

Max grew up in an area north of Pharoah called Sunrise. After completing the 8th grade, he attended Spring Hill School located in Pharoah. At the age of 7, he helped his mother pick cotton and never stopped working until he retired at the age of 86. He wore many hats, but his favorite was a cowboy hat. Knowledge of horses and cattle were well known and he was often approached by those seeking to purchase a horse, wanting his thoughts as to its quality. He farmed with his father and brother, along with raising cows, horses, and pigs. Summers would find him in the hay fields, and many high school boys from Weleetka helped him load hay. His last job was mowing grass for Henryetta High School. His supervisors soon found out that he could fix almost any piece of equipment and quickly became their “go to” guy when the need arose.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 23 years, Donna of the home; one son, Ronnie Cline and wife Cherry; one daughter, Sherry Ray; stepdaughter, Teri James of the home; stepson, Darren James and wife Ronda Lynn of Modesto, California; grandsons, Chad Cruce and wife Amanda, Brandon and wife Sarah, Brett April 1, 1934 – May 4, 2024

and wife Jessica and Chris Ray and wife Beverly; granddaughter, Jennifer Hunter and husband Ron; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one niece and one nephew.

Max is also survived by legions of friends of whom there are simply too many to mention, but assuredly, are not forgotten. He mentored kids, counseled bosses, admonished a stepdaughter to “hurry up and get married so I can walk you down the aisle,” delighted in the many tall tales and high jinx imparted by his grandson Brandon and his beloved family (especially those of Brody Max)! He genuinely touched the lives of so many … from Oklahoma to Arizona and all points in between. He will forever be missed and will forever be cherished by all who were so thankful, grateful and blessed to know him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Angela; his beloved first wife, Wanda; one brother, William “Bill” Cline and one sister, Iva Jean Miller.

All arrangements were handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
